Soluteo and Groupe Robert continue to lead the way with vehicle data transmission via BlackBerryJuly 26, 2005 - Soluteo, a specialist in BlackBerry® based mobile solutions, is pleased to announce that Groupe Robert has once again called upon its expertise. Soluteo will oversee the second phase of implementation of a vehicle information collection and transmission system via BlackBerry®. The Soluteo team oversaw the first phase, which enabled Groupe Robert to link its internal ERP and CRM systems to more than 475 mobile terminals. “The new platform capitalizes on the BlueTooth communication capacity of the latest-generation BlackBerry® terminals,” explains Raphaël Steinman, Soluteo’s VP Development. A traditional GPS terminal already installed in each of the transport company’s trucks will send vehicle data (position, speed, etc.) via radio to the BlackBerry® terminal carried by the driver. This data can then be transmitted to the operations centre over the GPRS network. “We have already achieved significant savings and are very satisfied with the Blackberry® solution,” explains Mathieu Abbott, Technological Development Manager at Groupe Robert. “We are now aiming to maximize this platform by integrating new functionalities, mainly GPS and vehicle data.” The vehicle data captured and transmitted by the new system permits more precise location of shipments, real-time tracking, improved fleet management and optimizing of routes. “Being able to count on reliable information from the field means we can better integrate our service offering into the supply chain process and build customer loyalty,” adds Mr. Abbott.
